20 Minute Deep Water Core Routine

Sunday, January 05 2025

Deep Core Explore is a 20-minute aquatic fitness instructor video that features 10 deep water combos that target the core muscles with vertical to horizontal (vertizontal) movement. Freed from gravity and moving in 360 degrees, your class members will feel the burn as they use their core muscles to move up, down, and all around.

Blending vertical and horizontal movement, also known as “vertizontal,” has been a go-to technique for teaching my deep-water classes since 2010 when I filmed the DVD, Aqua Vertizontal. And yes, vertical to horizontal movement has found its way into many of my deep water instructor videos ever since then. Not only can you provide your class members with a good cardio workout with vertizontal movement, but you also provide them with some serious core training. The core muscles work overtime moving the body from vertical to horizontal, and those muscles stay engaged the entire time you perform movement in a modified supine (horizontal) position.

Aquatic Fitness Routine-at-a-Glance
This 20-minute aqua instructor video does not include a warm-up or cool down because it is intended to be used in regular deep-water classes. Instructors can pick out a couple combos or use all. There are 10 two-move core combos. One move in the combo is performed both vertical and horizontal. The other move in the combo moves the body up to a horizontal position and then back down to a vertical position. A flotation belt is required, but there is no additional equipment needs. Below, Mark talks more about the workout and demonstrates tips for teaching the routine from deck.

Big news! Deep Core Explore is video #400 to post on Fitmotivation. Thank you to all who have supported Fitmotivation with your subscription dollars.  We could never have made it to 400 videos without your support. Happy New Year and cheers to another year of videos.
