Aqua Warm-up and Stretch

Saturday, August 03 2019

The recent video, Kicks, Drills & Thrills, featured a warm-up with a lower body focus and a final stretch for the major muscle groups of the legs.  The full videos for the warmup and stretch were shared on the Fitmotivation Youtube Channel and are also included in this blog.

Kicks, Drills & Thrills is a kickboxing-inspired workout and the action is very much focused on the movements of the legs.  The warm-up for any workout should be focused on preparing the body for the specific nature of the exercise activity.   In this case, the warm-up focuses on active & passive stretches of the lower body to prepare the muscles and joints of the legs for some serious kicking action.  In addition to preparing the muscles and joints for a workout, all aquatic fitness warm-ups should also include a gradual increase of heartrate and activities that provide thermal warming of the body in the cooler environment of the pool.

The final stretch for Kicks, Drills & Thrills features passive stretches for the major muscle groups of the lower body.

Stay tuned.   Coming soon – Punches, Drills & Thrills!  This upper body focused workout will include a warm-up and final stretch with a focus on the major muscle groups of the upper body.
