3D Yoga with AEA Training Specialist, Lori Templeman, is a gentle land fitness yoga practice that replicates daily movement, helping the body be strong, flexible and less injury-prone. This yoga class can be used for your own body-care needs or for senior studio classes. It can also be used when you can't get in the pool and need a substitute indoor program.
Fitmotivation Land Fitness Videos
Fitmotivation is dedicated to expanding its land fitness video category. Many subscribers cross-teach between the studio and the pool and the land fitness videos help them with their studio classes. Additionally, lots of subscribers teach in outdoor pools and the land videos provide them with indoor routines they can use in the event of inclement weather. With 3D Yoga, some subscribers may want to unwind with this yoga practice on their own after a grueling day of classes. Fitmotivation's Land Fitness Video Category includes options for chair fitness, yoga, muscle conditioning, low-impact aerobics and arthritis exercise.
What is Yoga 3D?
According to Lori, the science and inspiration behind this program was to include gentle exercises from the three primary planes of motion, which include movement that is front to back, side to side and rotational. These are the movements our class members use in their activities of daily living (ADL). Replicating how the human body moves during the day in an exercise program is a functional approach to improving ADL performance. Using a yoga practice to prepare the body for these movements can help class participants train their bodies to be more limber, pain-free and less likely to incur a musculoskeletal injury. All class members have different levels of flexibility and Lori explains in the video below that it is important for them to listen to their body and stay within a comfortable range of motion.
Deep Breathing & Relaxation
Like all yoga practices, 3D Yoga is as much about the breath as it is the movement. Many of yoga’s health benefits stem from deep breathing and relaxation. According to an online article by Urban Balance, deep breathing has many positive effects on the body. It can decrease stress, relieve pain, improve immunity, lower blood pressure and improve digestion to name a few. In 3D Yoga, Lori begins with an extended introduction of breathing and relaxation so that the practitioner can get grounded and rid themselves of stress and negative thoughts before beginning. The 3D Yoga practice also ends with an extended phase of deep breathing for added relaxation and health benefits. We thought it would be rather boring to show Lori laying on a mat for 5 minutes, and so we added in some Florida scenery during this final relaxation segment.
What You Need
If teaching or enjoying this yoga practice on your own, the most important requirement is a quiet and comfortable area to perform the gentle movements. If you are doing this practice on tile or hardwood floors, a good yoga mat like the one Lori uses in the video would be helpful. In the video, Lori also uses a yoga blanket and a yoga block. The block can help if you or a class member have limited range of motion.
We hope you enjoy this video as a class or as a recovery treat for yourself. Fitmotivation extends a big Namaste to Lori Templeman for sharing her yoga passion with subscribers. Check out all of Lori's Fitmotivation videos and stay tuned for two more posting in the next three months.
