HIIT and Water Jogging Aqua Class

Pool Jogging and Tabata 2 is a water fitness instructor video that alternates traveling cardio segments with high intensity Tabata rounds. Freed from gravity, deep water fitness allows your class members to move in multiple directions, with a variety of arm and leg exercises that will give them a satisfying total-body workout that is free of joint impact.

Having your students jog or run in the pool for an entire class would be boring and would cause repetitive overuse of the hip flexors, which are already overused in daily activities. In zero gravity, instructors can change up the water exercises, the travel direction and the muscles recruited, so that class participants get much greater fitness results. Alternating the travel patterns with Tabata rounds adds in the benefits of HIIT training, which includes greater fat loss and a boosted metabolism.

Aquatic Fitness Class-at-a-Glance
Pool Jogging & Tabata 2 includes a warm-up, cool down, four travel segments and three Tabata rounds. Each of the four 6-minute travel segments include non-stop travel for high knee jogs, jacks, skis, core moves and swim-kicks. In addition to those exercises, each travel segment concludes with an all-out sprint finisher. All four segments include travel forward, backwards and lateral, as well as challenging unilateral arm travel. The three Tabata rounds target upper body, lower body and core. Each Tabata round is 4 minutes and includes 8 exercises performed for 20 seconds of work, followed by 10 seconds of rest. This class format was designed for deep water and a flotation belt should be used by your class members. Most of the exercises can easily be adapted shallow water. As mentioned above, instructors will need to change swim-kick moves for shallow water use. Equipment is not needed, however webbed gloves or Aqualogix uppers and lowers can be added for extra resistance.

Celebrating 10 Years of Fitmotivation
The Fitmotivation Aquatic Fitness Instructor Streaming Video Platform launched 10 years ago on November 14, 2014. The first video produced for the streaming video site was Pool Jogging & Tabata. We didn’t even have an underwater camera at that point. So, to celebrate the anniversary we are rebooting the original video with volume 2 and all new running combinations and Tabata rounds. Watch Mark talk more about the 10 year anniversary and the remake of Pool Jogging & Tabata.
