WHY WATER? 10 REASONS TO EXERCISE IN THE WATER

Tuesday, July 02 2019

The above video preview is for “Why Water?” which was posted on 12/31/15.

Happy New Year!   Fitmotivation Video Subscribers now have exclusive access to the video presentation – Why Water?  10 Reasons to Exercise In The Water – as well as the seminar handout, the power point presentation, sample media forms and access to the private video link to share with friends, family and colleagues.

This video is a special release for the New Year and unlike any of the 40+ other videos currently streaming on the Fitmotivation website.  Based on a presentation I have offered in my local community over the past few years, “Why Water?” is designed to promote aquatic fitness.   Get more people in the water in 2016 by hosting your own “Why Water?” presentation.

WHY DID I POST THIS?
Recently, a subscriber sent me an email asking me how she could generate more interest in the aquatic fitness classes she was leading.  This is in fact a common goal many aquatic fitness professionals share.  It can be frustrating to see studio classes packed while the pool classes struggle with low attendance.  Many people snub aquatic fitness believing it is just for old people and that they can’t get a good workout.  I suggested to this subscriber that she hold a “Why Water?” seminar in her community to promote water fitness and her classes, similar to what I have done in the past.  I sent her the handout and power point that I used and wished her luck.  And that is when the light bulb went off in my head.   At that moment I realized I could provide a real service by sharing the presentation as a video and making the handout and power point available to all subscribers.

Thanks goes to Dawn Miller from Middlebury, Indiana for the inspiration here.

HOW CAN YOU USE THIS VIDEO?
If you are an aquatic fitness enthusiast you can consider this video to be a New Year’s solution to your resolution.  Fitmotivation subscribers can also share the full video link with friends, family and colleagues or anyone who could use a motivational nudge towards the pool. (See details below).

If you are an aquatic fitness professional you can utilize the content of the video in a few different ways.  You can simply view the video and the notes and then share with your students the interesting facts and benefits that are presented. Maybe you can pass on one “Reason to Exercise In Water” during the course of 10 weeks.  Or you can use the video and materials provided to host your own “Why Water?” seminar to promote aquatic fitness in the community or facility where you teach.

HOSTING A “WHY WATER?” SEMINAR
Version #1:  Consider offering this seminar as a 30, 45 or 60-minute lecture in a classroom setting.  You can actually play the video as part of the presentation if you have the technology to support it.  The video is 17 minutes in length and it can be played from your computer via an LCD projector that is equipped with sound capability.   Participants are provided with the handout (see details below) and you can follow along with the video, stopping after each of the “10 Reasons” to provide your own input and relate it to your classes or facility’s aquatic fitness programming.

Version #2:  In the event you do not have technology to support showing the video, you can offer the entire presentation yourself.  You can present the material simply by reading off the handout or you can present material as a power point presentation if you have access to a laptop and LCD projector.  A power point presentation of the “Why Water?” seminar is available to Fitmotivation subscribers.  (See details below)

Version #3:  Same as either version #1 and #2, except offer a pool portion as well. Increase the time of the seminar to 90 minutes or 2 hours and then do half in the classroom and half in the pool.  In the pool, you can offer a demonstration of a new class that is being offered or you can simply showcase the power of water with 20 of your favorite and most powerful aquatic exercises.

SEMINAR HANDOUT
Fitmotivation video subscribers have access to the handout (3 pages).  It can be found in the Notes Link at the bottom of the video viewer.

MEDIA SAMPLE FORMS
Included with the notes are two sample media forms (2 pages).  One sample form provides a template for sending an event announcement to your local media if you do host a “Why Water?” seminar.  The other template can help you pitch a story suggestion to the local media regarding new programming, classes or equipment.  Or you can suggest a success story regarding one of your members.  You just never know? They may bite.  An article in the local newspaper or a story on the local TV news can generate a lot of interest and potentially memberships.

POWER POINT PRESENTATION
Fitmotivation video subscribers may email me directly for the Power Point file.  The power point does not have video or photos.  It is simply a visual presentation of the handout.   Email:  [email protected]

VIDEO LINK TO SHARE
Fitmotivation video subscribers may email me for a private link to the full- length video of “Why Water?”  The video may be shared with family, friends or colleagues who could use some motivation to get moving in the water.  It can also be shared with landlubbers who think you can’t get a good workout in the water.   Email:  [email protected]

On behalf of Fitmotivation, I would like to extend sincere thanks to all aquatic fitness professionals who have provided health, wellness & joy to people in pools all across the globe in 2015.
