Aquatic Fitness Class-at-a-Glance
This water fitness instructor video does not include a warm-up or warm down because it is intended to be used as part of an existing aquatic fitness class, or cherry picked for exercise ideas. Divided into two segments, this aquafit video includes a total of 14 aquatic exercises.
Round 1: The first seven aquatic exercises are taught with a single Aqualogix drag bell.
Round 2: The second round of seven exercises is instructed with a single foam dumbbell.
If your pool facility does not have the equipment on hand, you can adapt the exercises to be performed without equipment.
Below, Stephanie T provides more insights into why fitness skill training is so important in the daily lives of our class members.
Fitness Skills Training for Daily Activities
By Stephanie Thielen
To train like an athlete, you do not have to be playing in a stadium in front of thousands of people. Yes, athletes train their body specifically for their sport, but non-athletes need to do the same. The sport they need to train for is the sport called “Life.”
Everyone can benefit from some form of fitness activity, whether it’s pickleball, walking, water exercise, yoga or strength training. Consistent physical activity improves the efficiency of the heart and lungs, while improving muscular strength and endurance. And yes, it can also help keep the pounds off.
Likewise, everyone can also benefit from training the fitness skills that improve activities of daily living (ADLs). The skills training in this aquatic fitness instructor video include agility, speed, coordination and power. Most of our class members don’t need to train for a marathon or a body building competition, but they do need skills that can help them accomplish tasks such as household and yard chores. How about social and recreational activities, such as playing with children or grandchildren, or planning a day long outing that requires stamina?
The Athletic Edge is a series of movements that will make your class members feel like an athlete, because they are training like athletes. The exercises are fun, fast and energetic and will help participants feel confident and powerful. Teaching new drills and skills can add excitement and motivation to your classes, while helping your class members live better.
