Single Buoy Exercises for Aqua Classes

Tuesday, September 09 2025

Looking for some creative foam dumbbell exercises? Single Buoy Burn with Jenni Lynn Patterson-LaCour is a 15-minute aquatic fitness instructor video that features 30 exercises using a single foam dumbbell. Individual exercises can be cherry-picked, or treat your class members to the sequenced flow of all 30 exercises

Most Fitmotivation videos are full-length workouts, with an average duration of 45-55 minutes. However, we also produce shorter (express) videos for instructors short on time, looking to login and quickly get new ideas for their classes. Three of the videos posting in September have been the shorter, express durations.

VIDEO SUMMARY
Single Buoy Burn does not include a warm-up or cool down/stretch because the content is intended to be included within regular aquatic fitness class programming. The 30 exercises are performed in the video for 30 seconds each.  However, instructors can change that timing to suit their class needs. The 30 exercises were designed in a sequenced flow, but instructors can feel free to cherry pick individual exercises for their class routines.  This exercise sequence was designed for shallow water and would require modification for use in the deep end. The creative use of a single buoy is perfect for those instructors who teach to larger groups but have limited equipment supplies. A class with 40 people can use just 20 pairs of buoys and enjoy a fun, effective foam dumbbell routine.
